FAQs

Why One Tape to One Disc?
For the best quality, we don’t combine multiple tapes onto one disc. Each tape

we preserve is transferred to its own premium disc, one tape to one disc.

Why Digitize?

If you’re like most people, your family history is tucked away in an attic somewhere.

Assuming your VCR hasn’t already “eaten” them, the average lifespan of videotapes (VHS, etc.) is only 15 to 20 years.  Slides begin to deteriorate at around 20 years. MVP Video can save your memories by converting all your home movies and photos to digital... preserving them for generations to come.

What Formats Do You Convert?
Videotapes – VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, 8mm Video Cassette and MiniDV.
Film – 8mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm.
Photos – 35mm Slides, Negatives and Photo Prints.
Audio – Audio Cassette and Microcassette Tapes.

DVD or Flash Drive?
Folks often ask which is better DVD or Flash drive?  It depends on your intended use.  DVD is a great archival format great for preserving your media for many years.  Flash drives are less permanent and can be easily erased.  However, flash drives give you the ability to quickly back your videos up on your hard drive.

-Flash drives are not designed for long term storage. You should always backup your videos from the flash drive on to another device such as your home computer. The data on a flash drive will normally stay valid for a period of up to 10 years if stored under normal conditions.

-DVDs are designed for long term storage. There is consensus among DVD manufacturers that, under recommended storage conditions DVD-R discs should have a life expectancy of 100 to 200 years or more.

Of course many customers choose to have BOTH a DVD and a Flash drive made of their videos.

How Long Does It Take?
Video transfers are normally processed in 1 to 2 days. Film transfers take 10 days. We believe in quality; we do everything by hand; and we don’t compromise.
